Ramadan Educates Us to Become Ihsan Person
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
الحمد لله ربّ العالمين وَبِهِ نَسْتَعِيْنُ عَلَى اُمُوْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالدِّيْنِ لا حولا ولا قوة الاّ بالله العلي العظيم. اللهمّ صلّ علي محمّد وعلى اله واصحابه ومن تبعهم باحسان الي يوم الدّين امّابعد
Our brothers and sisters in Islam,
Ramadan will leave us all, hopefully we can reap the fruits of fasting (shaum) worship for a month. Then we hope that out of it (the month of Ramadan) Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla forgives and wipes our sins away, so that on Eid al-Fitr we are clean from sins like a baby who has just been born by his mother.
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : إنّ رمضان شهر افترض الله صيامه و إنّي سننت للمسلمين قيامه، فمن صامه و قامه إيمانا واحتسابا خرج من ذنوبه كيوم ولدته أمّه. ( رواه ابن خزيمة 2/1052)
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Ramadan is the month in which Allah has made fasting obligatory and will make it obligatory for Muslims to offer the Ramadan qiyam (tarawih). Whoever fasts and prays (qiyam Ramadan) out of faith and hope for reward, he will come out of the month of Ramadan as clean from sins as the day he was born by his mother.” (Ibn Khudzaimah 1052/2).
During the shaum (fasting worship) by keeping things that damage it, even na’udzubillah cancel the fast, because we want our fasting to not be in vain, not just leaving thirst and hunger alone. This is because we realize that Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala is always watching His servants.
Remember the dialog between Jibril (peace be upon him) and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about ihsan:
.فأخبرني عن الإحسان قال : أن تعبد الله كأنّك تراه فإن لم تكن تراه فإنّه يراك ….. ( رواه مسلم )….
“…. then tell me about Ihsan, he replied: “You should worship Allah as if you see Him, then if you cannot see Him, He sees you”
By doing so (a strong attitude of ihsan) we will be saved from things that are dismissive of Allah, sinning, corruption betraying the mandate at will. Do we forget that Allah is always with us.
A people or a nation will survive and prosper and avoid destruction if they can keep themselves away from the things that Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, wraths.
Ibn Abi Hatim said from Ubadah bin ash Shamit that Rasullullah (peace be upon him) said:
إذا أراد الله بقوم بقاء أو نماءً رزقهم القصد والعفاف. وإذا أراد الله بقوم اقتطاعاَ فتح لهم – أو فتح عليهم – باب خيانة ، {حتى إذا فرحوا بما أوتوا أخذناهم بغتة فإذا هم مبلسون} كما قال : {فقطع دابر القوم الذين ظلموا والحمد لله ربّ العالمين}
“When Allah wants a people to be preserved and prosperous, He gives them simplicity and purity, and when Allah wants a people to be destroyed, He opens for them or upon them the doors of treachery. {So, when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened the gates of all things so that while they rejoiced in what they had been granted We seized them suddenly and they were plunged into utter despair. Thus the last remnant of those wrongdoing was cut off. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the entire universe}” (Surah Al-An’am: 44-45).
May Allah guide and lead us after this Ramadan with practices that bring blessings in His Ridho and away from things that bring His wrath. Amin ya robbal alamin.
